Helen Elizabeth Purcell

Helen Elizabeth Purcell received a B.E. from the University of Chicago in 1906 and was a critic teacher from 1906 to 1911. She was Assistant Director of the Training School at the State Normal School in Platteville, Wisconsin (1912-1916). She was Education investigator for the Institute for Public Service in New York City, 1918-1919. She entered the service in 1918 and served as Division Secretary and Special Representative in the War Camp Community Service. She left the service in October 1919. After the war she was a social worker (1920-22) and director of teacher training at the State Teachers College in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania from 1923 to 1926.
